A hand up through education

School can change the direction of a child’s life.

In this Senegalese community, many children must leave school around age 12 because their families cannot afford the fees. Staying in school is one of the most meaningful “hand-ups” these children can receive.

Africa 1040 partners with parents rather than replacing them. For each participating child, the parent or parents contribute half of the school fees and our ministry helps provide the remaining half. This shared commitment preserves dignity, encourages family participation, and gives children a stronger opportunity to continue learning.

Children waiting for an opportunity

These 10 students represent the 30 children still waiting.

Each portrait is a reminder that behind our goal is a real child with the potential to learn, grow, and help shape the future of their community.

To protect the children’s privacy, their names and personal information are not published. Donations support Africa 1040’s education partnership program as a whole rather than being assigned exclusively to a specific pictured child.

Accountability through local partnership

A real school. A direct relationship. A shared commitment.

Africa 1040 works directly with the school’s leadership and participating families to identify needs and help ensure educational support is used responsibly.

This is not a distant or anonymous project. Our team has visited the school, met with its headmaster, seen the classrooms in use, and celebrated with students as they received their certificates.

  • Parents contribute 50% of each participating child’s school fees.
  • Africa 1040 helps provide the remaining 50%.
  • Gifts also help meet shared needs as the school grows, including additional classrooms.
  • Student names and identifying details remain private.

How your partnership helps

Your gift strengthens children, families, and their school.

1

Keep children learning

Your partnership helps provide Africa 1040’s portion of participating students’ school fees so financial hardship does not end their education prematurely.

2

Partner with parents

Parents contribute 50% of the school fees. Africa 1040 helps with the remaining 50%, creating a shared investment in each child’s future.

3

Help the school grow

Gifts also strengthen the school as it grows—including helping provide needed classrooms—and support related ministry needs that serve children and their community.

Will you join us?

Help give a child the opportunity to remain in school.

A recurring partnership of $50 per month is recommended, but every gift—monthly or one-time, large or small—moves this work forward.
